This was a humbling time. We got to meet a couple of very fun people who are traveling across Canada with hopes to raise both money and awareness for ALS also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. We got to meet one of Airdrie's residents that suffer from this horrible disease and we are amazed at his positive outlook and community involved this gentleman has. We can all learn a little from his determination and will.
Nate "D" Great is Airdrie's own "Are you smarter than a Canadian fifth grader" We had the honor and privilege to join the family for some Social time and really experience how awesome this kid and his family really are. Thank you for welcoming us into your home and Nate we'll be cheering you on when the show starts Oct 25th @ 10pm on Global.
WOW what a great day of fun for the whole family. We had a bit of a time keeping Alioops mingling instead of playing on the play structure and riding in the pumpkin chariot. The whole day’s event was to help raise money for the Children's Hospital. There were hay rides, pumpkin chariot rides, pumpkin carving, coloring, a petting zoo and not to mention an amazing garden centre to stroll through and enjoy. The total amount raised for the day’s events comes in and around close to $10,000.00 the number isn't final.
Emerson Drive put on an INCREDIBLE concert for thousands on Canada Day. Also performing, were Durango, Carly Henry and Mark Lorenz. Great Show.... Great evening. I dare say that "Here's the Scoop" Boss Lois, may have had a bit of a crush on Patrick (Base Player for Emerson Drive).
What can you say about the Airdrie Pro Rodeo. The weather was great, the Bulls were rank and the Broncs were mean. Lois, Helen and Laura from "Here's the Scoop" chatted it up with Calgary Flames GM Daryl Sutter in the VIP booth, while I took in the action at ground level. We'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
Sova Sleep Shop had a Rodeo BBQ after the Canada Day Parade. About 400 people showed up to be treated to hot dogs, burgers and drinks. Thanks Shawn!
The merchants of Yankee Valley Crossing fed residents and visitors a fine breakfast of pancakes, ham, coffee, juice etc...... all with a western hospitality that left everyone smiling. There was a bounce house by Urban Treehouse, Live music by Monster Music, Classic Cars (Alioops tried several times to drive off with one), and great conversation to be had with friends and neighbors.
Yankee Valley Crossing is home to such business's as Cove Technologies (Discovery Computers), Sunsports, Five Star Movie Rentals, Your Dollar Store With More, Urban Treehouse, Laser Touch, Monster Music, S'in Style, Page and Turners Books, Hero Optical and Golf USA as well as restaurants and other retailers.
Tickets were sold for $2 each with the proceeds going to Airdrie Family Services. From all of the tickets sold, 10 lucky winners were drawn. The prize? the right to smash..... in "TRUE ROCK AND ROLL" fashion..... a brand new guitar.
Winners were encouraged to play a tune if they so chose, or to just make a lot of noise before their personal finale of the "BIG SMASH".
