Premier and Cabinet Ministers Stop in Airdrie

Premier Stelmach was in Airdrie February 10 to speak with the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce and hear some of the community’s needs and concerns. Some of the topics discussed were the need for more schools in Airdrie, the possibility of bringing 24 hour health care to the city, cutting red tape for business owners and the shortfall of per capita money returned to Albertans through equalization payments from Ottawa. The Chamber of Commerce learned that although Alberta sends the most money of any province to Ottawa for equalization payments, it receives back only $200 per capita compared to other provinces receiving between $500 and $800 per capita.
